Hello, this tutorial will show you how to upload files to your server space. First, you will want to open up the Secure Shell Transfer program. So go to programs and let’s find this. Here we see SSH Secure Shell. If you do not have Secure Shell but you are using a PC, you can download it for free from Bevoware. In order to that you must be a currently enrolled students. You can use your eid to access it. Once you have secure shell on your computer, go ahead and click on it. Next, you want to open Secure Shell Transfer Client. Note, that is not Secure Shell Client. So now let’s go back up and hit Secure Shell Transfer Client.
Once that is open, click on quick connect. You will now be prompted to log-in.  Under host name, if it’s not already there, type login.ischool.utexas.edu. Next, you will type your user name. If the port number is not already specified type 22. Next, click connect.  You will now be prompted for your password. Your password is associated with your Ischool account.  This is not the password that is affiliated with your eid. Now click okay.  Once you have done that, you will see on the left side of the screen, all of the files from your desktop.  On the right side you will see the files and folders associated with your server space.  If you are just learning how to upload files, you will likely have fewer folders in your server space. You can create folders to store information or publish information on the web.
If you are creating a webpage as you often have to do at the School of Information, you will need a public html folder. As you can see, I already have one. However, if you do not have one, we will make one. In order to make a new folder, click on the folder icon. Now type, public_html. Now you can drag any of the files that you would like to be public to the public_html folder. If you would like to store files on the server without them being public, you can make a new folder, name it, and store files there.
Now you can drag any of the files that you would like to be public to the public_html folder. If you would like to store files on the server without them being public, you can make a new folder, name it, and store files there. For example, I stored files for my public libraries class in this folder. If you are working on files as you upload them to the server, you may also want to hit the refresh button.  This will make sure that your most update files are being transferred when you drag and drop them. This concludes the tutorial. Before you finish, just make sure to disconnect. Right there. We’ll go ahead and do this now. And good luck with all of your work. Thank you so much.
