Instructor Stations

This page provides a brief introduction to the iSchool instructor stations in UTA. We expect that the furniture and control panels will change (the control panels in the very near future), and will attempt to keep this page current with these changes. We will also be adding better-than-iPhone quality images.

iSchool Instructor Stations

The small and medium classrooms, computer classroom, and computer workroom all work in a similar manner. A PC running Windows, A Mac running OS X, a document camera, and a VCR/DVD player are available at each station, along with connections for a laptop. The main table can be raised and lowered electronically using controls attached to the bottom of the table. The other items and an HD projector are controlled by a wall-mounted control panel.



Using the Windows PC

  1. The control panel starts dark. Touch the screen to turn it on.
  2. Under "Projector Power" select "On"
  3. Under "Sources" select "Mac/PC"
  4. The monitor and projector should show the Windows or OS X screen.
  5. If the display shows the OS X screen, press the button at the base of the monitor, or hit "Scroll Lock" twice, then "Enter" or "Return" to switch it to the Windows screen.
  6. When you are done, under "Projector Power" select "Off"


Using the Mac

  1. The control panel starts dark. Touch the screen to turn it on.
  2. Under "Projector Power" select "On"
  3. Under "Sources" select "Mac/PC"
  4. The monitor and projector should show the Windows or OS X screen.
  5. If the display shows the Windows screen, press the button at the base of the monitor, or hit "Scroll Lock" twice, then "Enter" or "Return" to switch it to the OS X screen.
  6. When you are done, under "Projector Power" select "Off"


Using a Laptop

  1. Plug the provided VGA and audio cables to your laptop.
    • If you have a DVI connection, a VGA converter should have come with your laptop.
  2. The control panel starts dark. Touch the screen to turn it on.
  3. Under "Projector Power" select "On"
  4. Under "Sources" select "Laptop"
  5. The monitor and projector should show your laptop screen.
    • Depending on your configuration, you may need to adjust your laptop settings.
  6. When you are done, under "Projector Power" select "Off"


Using the Document Camera

  1. The control panel starts dark. Touch the screen to turn it on.
  2. Under "Projector Power" select "On"
  3. Under "Sources" select "Document Camera"
  4. The projector should show the Document Camera image.
  5. If you want to see the Document Camera image on the monitor, switch the monitor from digital to analog (need picture)
  6. The monitor and projector should then show the same image.
  7. When you are done,
  8. under "Projector Power" select "Off"


Using the VCR or DVD Player

  1. The control panel starts dark. Touch the screen to turn it on.
  2. Under "Projector Power" select "On"
  3. Under "Sources" select "DVD/VCR"
  4. The projector should show a Samsung screen, and you should hear a jingle tone.
  5. The control panel should now display the controls for the DVD/VCR.
  6. Use the buttons on the control panel to control playback.
  7. Your video should appear on the projection surface.
  8. When you are done, press the "Source Select" button.
  9. Under "Projector Power" select "Off"


iSchool Instructor Station Troubleshooting

Shutting down the projector: If the projector isn't turning off, you may need to hold down the projector off button. If the off button does not seem to work, try switching to a different source, switching back to the original source, and then use the projector off button.
